Dreaming of planning a wedding was something I had been doing for years. However, when Simon and I tied the knot, my sister, mother, and bridesmd handled all the planning!
So, when BBC approached me to become a judge on 'Ultimate Wedding Planner', I jumped at the opportunity. You see, weddings have always excited me - from the themes, color schemes, floral arrangements, to the handmade detls. It was everything that thrilled my creativity.
'Ultimate Wedding Planner' brought together hospitality expert and mtre d', Fred Siriex, industry expert Ray Somya, and myself as mentors for eight aspiring wedding planners competing for title of Ultimate Wedding Planner.
Eight couples were brave enough or perhaps mad to let our wedding planners take control of their big day. As a team, we traveled across the country providing feedback and support as they honed their skills in wedding planning.
I was there as an expert on crafts, evaluating the handcrafted decorations and creative centerpieces that are often part of weddings - from invitations and favors to stunning displays. Besides my creative eye, I brought my business acumen to check if our planners could manage projects efficiently while staying within budget and delivering spectacular events.
Filming 'Ultimate Wedding Planner' was an absolute delight! It involved dressing up in beautiful gowns, atting awe-inspiring weddings with themes ranging from vintage 1950s, rustic farm settings to aviation-inspired extravaganzas and millionre's garden party.
Fred Siriex proved to be a wonderful companion on set as we shared laughter alongside Raj Somya. Our team did an outstanding job capturing the magic of each episode.
The show was broadcast weekly over eight episodes in summer 2023 on BBC 2.
